When President Obama presented the concept of 'team of rivals' as a model for his administartion, there was some skepticism. As time passed the increased confidence in individual members was derived from the confidence in Obama's judgement to lead, with one exception. Valerie Jarrett.
The confidence in and admiration of Valerie Jarrett is absolute and independent of any positive regard towards President Obama.
Whether on CNN, Charlie Rose, Meet the Press, C-Span, or Bloomberg TV it's always enjoyable listening to her discuss policy and politics. In the public and private sectors she confronts misogynistic attitudes not in unseemly manner but with grit (and it's not cheesy) and grace.

Prior to joining the Obama Administration, she was the Chief Executive
Officer of The Habitat Company. She also served as Co-Chair of the Obama-Biden
Presidential Transition Team, and Senior Advisor to Obama's presidential
campaign.
Jarrett also served as a director of corporate and not for profit boards, including Chairman of the Board of the Chicago Stock Exchange, Director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, and Chairman of the University of Chicago Medical Center Board of Trustees.
Jarrett received her B.A. from Stanford University in 1978 and her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1981.
