Lunch with God

A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of Root Beer and he started his journey.

When he had gone about three blocks, he met an elderly man. The man was sitting in the park just feeding some pigeons.

The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the man looked hungry, so he offered him a Twinkie.

The man gratefully accepted it and smiled at boy. His smile was so pleasant that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him a root beer.

Again, the man smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word.

As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the man, and gave him a hug. The man gave him his biggest smile ever.

When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?

"He replied, "I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? God's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen."

Meanwhile, the elderly man, also radiant with joy, returned to his home. His son was stunned by the look of peace on his face and he asked," Dad, what did you do today that made you so happy?"

He replied, "I ate Twinkies in the park with God." However, before his son responded, he added," You know, he's much younger than I expected."

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Embrace all equally!

Goodness and mercy becomes legacy.

Sheep manure is best balanced of any produced by domestic stock; when scattered efficiently over over pastures, it proves of enormous benefit to soil.

Sheep habit: Seek highest rise of ground on which to rest, insures fertility from which rich low land is re-deposited on less higher ground.

No other livestock will consume as wide a variety of herbage.

Sheep can clean up, restore ravaged land; may eat undesireable plants that can become noxious weeds if uncontrolled.

"Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over"

 

 

Sheep especially troubled by nose (nasal) fly. Nasal fly attempts to deposit eggs on damp mucous membranes of sheep nose. If succesful eggs hatch in few days to form small slender worm-like larvae. Larvae travels up nasal passages into sheep head. Larvae burrows into flesh, set up intense irritation accompanied by severe inflammation.

 

 

For relief, sheep deliberately beat heads against trees, rocks, posts, brush; rub heads in extreme cases. Sheep may even kill itself in frenzied endeavor to gain relief. Often advanced stages of infection will lead to blindness.

When nose flies hover around flock, some sheep become frantic with fear and panic in attempt to escape; will stamp feet erratically, race from place to place on pasture. Some run so much, sheep drops from exhaustion.

 

 

Sheep may toss head up and down for hours; will hide in bush/woodland that offers shelter. Sheep may refuse to graze in open pasture. Sheep may rapidly lose weight due to excitement and distraction.

 

 

Homemade remedy: Linseed oil, tar, sulphur.

Old remedy in Palestine: olive oil mixed with sulphur and spices.   

Sheep may develop scab: an irritating, highly contagious disease caused by microscopic parasites that proliferates in warm weather, spreads by direct contact. Sheep loves to rub heads in affectionate manner. Scab often found most commonly around head. 

Dips may be built. Animal completely submerged in solution until body is soaked. Most difficult to do is the head. The head has to be plunged repeatedly to ensure scab there will be controlled there. Shepherd takes great care to tread head by hand.

Axle grease applied to head and nose of sheep so when sheep 'battle' each other there's no injury, maiming, and killing of sheep. Sheep battles occurs in autumn due to the season of mating, the rut, and self-assertion. 

Sheep have respite  from flies, insects, and scab in autumn. Sheep is fit, well, and strong.

Supply of salt and minerals to be distributed ar strategic spots by shepherd. Shepherd plans grazin/rotation program, check for poisonous weeds.

Cammas --- Blue cammas are delightful sight. White cammas much less conspicuious flower, quite attractive, and deadly menace to sheep; if lambs in particular, ate or even nibbled a few of the lily-like leaves could mean certain death; lambs become paralyzed --- succomb to toxic poisons in plants.

Shepherd clears out waterholes, springs, and drinking places for flock (the debris accumulated in autumn and winter)

Predators may be upon rimrock watching sheep, waiting for an opportunity to attack sheep.

Worship of Jesus Christ

 It's Personal

Water --- (Service) ---  Due to the prevalence of dusty roads, it is customary to wash the feet of house guests. It was act of hospitality and service.  "But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant." --- Matthew 23:11

Kiss --- (Love) --- It is customary to greet one another with a 'holy kiss' (cheek-to-cheek) --- an expression of God's love towards all humans. It's a token of brotherhood. It is not an erotic gesture. "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."  --- John 13:35

Oil --- (Respect) --- It is customary to anoint certain house guests with oil as an act of hospitality. In the scriptures, 'anointing' signifies divine consecration and approval. It's not charismatic fervor   "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him."  --- Colassians 3:17
